SURF-DEVELOPER Comment Policy

As the SURF-DEVELOPER owner or administrator, I enjoy interacting with you and gladly welcome your comments. To ensure that comments enhance and not detract from the blog, I’ve created a formal comment policy. I have total control over the comments on the blog

1. Comment Moderation

In order to maintain the integrity of the blog and its content, some comments, trackbacks, and pingbacks made to the Surfdeveloper Blog are moderated. I work to review and approve comments as quickly as possible, but please do not resubmit your comment if it does not appear right away.

• Email addresses are required for commenting, and they will not be visible on the blog, nor shared. If you do not wish to reveal your real name, you need not do so. Your usual nickname, screen name, logon ID, or other identifier is just fine.

Please keep your comments on topic. Some comments are moderated, and this blog uses a spam filter to exclude commercial advertisements. Comments it contains more links or that link to sites having nothing to do with the blog post topic or are considered spam and will be deleted. If you write a comment that says ‘nice’ or ‘good post, Thanks’ or ‘great blog’ or ‘nice site, Thanks’ or ‘Cool site’ … then it could be deleted. Irrelevant links and comments are not encouraged.

• Never post anything that you would not want the entire world to see. Comments are visible to the public without restriction, and, once posted, they remain online indefinitely. Copies of comment text may exist in places that none of us could possibly know about.

• Limit Links. This blog is setup to automatically hold any blog comment with more than ONE links in moderation, which may delay your comment from appearing on this blog. Any blog comment with more than THREE links could be marked as comment spam. Comments and links will be judged, they could be removed.

Relevant links in comments are actively encouraged - if you’re leaving a comment on the blogs and want to point to a link on your own or someone else’s site that is relevant to the topic then please feel free to do so.

Irrelevant links are not encouraged
- if you leave a comment with a link in it that has no relevance to the post, the comment could be deleted. Please leave comments are related to the post.

2. Language and manner

This blog has a diverse audience with different sensibilities and opinions. That said, please avoid harsh language and the use of profanity. Flaming or use of threatening language is not allowed nor will it be tolerated. Anyone who violates this Comments Policy may be blocked from future access and/or commenting on this blog

• Libels, Profanities and obscenities (i.e., “swears”) are not allowed. Exercise self-control, think before commenting. Comments containing incoherent or unreadable text or data, unreasonable ad hominem attacks, egregiously vulgar or abusive language, fraud, plagiarism, military secrets, anything xxx-rated, or external links to such material, will be deleted.

3. Format and Length

Ideally, your comment will be under 200 well chosen words with paragraphs as necessary; whitespace makes the content easier to read on a computer screen.

• Comments that squander bandwidth or server resources, or that interfere with the hosting provider, the blogging software, or access by other system users, will be deleted.

• Comments are for text. If an illustration, video, audio file, program, or other non-text element is relevant to the subject matter of the blog post, you may upload the file elsewhere if it does not already exist, and post a link to it in your comment.

• Please paste text from text-mode editor, such as Notepad, and then recopy and paste it again from there into the comment editor. Never post directly from a WYSIWYG editor, such as a word processor, into the comment editor. This can introduce special formatting characters that the comment editor cannot accept.
